Boom Duello is a duel, not a campaign. Two players share one keyboard, pick a map, and try to blow each other up with TNT. There is no score to grind and no level to unlock — a round ends the moment one player is caught in a blast, and then you go again. Player one runs on W A S D and drops a bomb with R; player two runs on the arrow keys and drops a bomb with P. That is the whole control scheme, which is exactly why the game works from a standing start with someone who has never played it.
The skill is in placement and timing rather than aim. A bomb you throw does not go off instantly, so every one you put down is a bet on where your opponent will be a moment from now, not where they are. That cuts both ways: the same fuse that gives them time to escape gives you time to walk into your own explosion. Two maps means two sets of corners, gaps and dead ends to learn, and most of the tension in a close round comes from realising you have boxed yourself into one of them.
Tips to Win More Duels
- Bomb where they are going, not where they are. Read your opponent’s direction and drop the TNT one step ahead of it. A bomb thrown directly at a moving player is a bomb they simply walk away from.
- Plan your exit before you throw. Decide which way you are running the instant the bomb leaves your hands. Players lose more rounds to their own explosives than to a clever opponent.
- Use the map’s tight spots as traps. Anywhere the layout narrows, an opponent has fewer escape routes. Push them toward those places rather than fighting in the open.
- Do not trade blindly. If you are both throwing at once in a small space, the round comes down to luck. Back off, reset the distance, and make them commit first.
